I’ve had an iPad since the day it came out, and like many others, I lament the lack of Flash on it. I understand Apple’s stance when I see how it hogs resources on my MacBook Pro and how it has crashed my browser and laptop, but sometimes there are websites I want to view that I am unable to. That is until now with iSwifter.
On the Chevy SXSW Road Trip, Verizon Wireless was kind enough to sponsor us with a Motorola Xoom. From New York to Texas and back, the Xoom was our traveling companion and connection to the wider world as we traveled the highways and byways of the eastern half of the United States.
After two years of co-founding and organizing NxNYC, I thought about finally attending SXSW after hearing all my friends’ stories about “Geek Spring Break.” When being asked to join the Chevy SXSW Road Trip, my decision was cemented. The reins of NxNYC were handed off to Devin and Leslie, and I was off to Austin, Texas.
Days of not sleeping, long hours creating videos, working with teachers, the pressures of competition… All of it coming down to the final 12 hours of the Chevy Road Trip Challenge between the ten teams from across the United States and Canada heading towards Austin, TX to win the mystery prize from Chevrolet.
I am currently sitting in a car barreling down the highway across Arkansas that is heading towards Texarakana. Once we get there, we have four challenges to complete tonight and another few tomorrow before heading to Austin to see which team takes home the trophy in this Cannonball Run meets Midnight Madness adventure.
As chronicled previously, I finally decided to travel to SXSW for the first time, after years of hearing about it. But rather than take a plane and get there in a matter of hours, I will be taking part in the Chevy SXSW Road Trip.
For the past two years, I have been very active in the social media scene in New York. When fellow technologists converged on Austin, Texas for South By Southwest (SXSW) for the interactive conference, I cofounded NxNYC with Christina Coster and Karen Costa, and ran it with Christina a second year as our brethren emigrated south again. This year, I have decided to finally join them and travel to journey southward.
