For the second year in a row, Make Magazine brought their Maker Faire to New York City, showing how fun and cool science can be. On the grounds of the Science Center in Queens, NY, makers, scientists, DIYers, crafters and creators of all sorts gathered to show off their projects to young and old alike.
With my continued goal of running in the ING NYC Marathon, I signed up for seven races for my eligibility for the 2012 marathon before joining the American Cancer Society’s team for the 2011 marathon. As I train for the 2011 marathon, I will be running these races to run it in 2012.
I have been running consistently for the past 19 months. From February 2010 to the present, I have gone out in sun, rain and snow in order to train and become a better runner. I have run 5ks and half marathons, working hard to achieve greater distances and better times each time I went out. Having completed half marathons, the next step would be a full marathon, and as of today, I am running in the ING New York City Marathon in November, the largest marathon in the world.
At midnight Monday night, Reed Hastings, CEO of Netflix, released a blog post announcing the split of Netflix into two separate companies. Netflix itself would encompass the streaming part of the company, while the new entity known as Qwikster would take over the DVDs and Blu-rays.
After years of being a fan of Make Magazine, it was an amazing experience to be part of the inaugural World Maker Faire last year. Seeing all the cool projects created by makers was truly inspiring and it’s an honor to be displaying my work with them again this year.
This past weekend, I traveled to California to compete in the Disneyland Half Marathon in an effort to complete the Disney Coast to Coast Marathon. Having run in the Disney World Half Marathon in January, I decided I wanted to travel across the country in order to compete one more time.
Last January, I traversed the roads of Disney World in Orlando, Florida to run 13.1 miles and journey through the Magic Kingdom and EPCOT in order to prove to myself I could. I have tried to do races I found interesting in my brief running career, and this weekend, that continues in Disneyland.
