One week after achieving a PR (personal record) at the Disneyland Half Marathon, I returned to New York to run my next race. To gain automatic entry into the 2012 ING NYC Marathon, I ran the next race in the Five Borough Series, the Bronx 10-Mile.
In January, I trekked out to Orlando, Florida to run the Disney World Marathon. After completing 26.2 miles around Disney World, I decided I had to return to Disneyland for the Disneyland Half Marathon again and complete the Disney Coast to Coast Marathon on more time.
In a series of running events across the country and around the world, The Color Run puts on 5K races that are fairly unique. In an event that can only be described as tye dye meets sports, runners get colored as they run 3.1 miles around a course that is set up in each city. This past weekend, The Color Run came to New York City.
Earlier this summer, to promote the Avengers movie, Post-It Notes released their templates for the Avengers. I had seen these on my friend Gregory’s Facebook page, and my first thought was that I could make these out of LEGO bricks.
For the fourth year running, I returned to Chantilly, VA to attend BrickFair, a convention of adult fans of LEGO (AFOL) to convene and display their original creations built out of LEGO bricks. This year, I was able to spend four full days to experience everything BrickFair had to offer, as well as volunteer and speak again.
At the Walt Disney World marathon run expo, I was checking all the different wares the running oriented companies we offering for sale to the runners. One such company was Auria, who were showing off the running headphones. Recently they sent me a pair to review.
Late last year, Apple announced a recall on their first generation iPod Nanos due to a battery issue. I finally sent mine back and received a brand new current generation iPod Nano in return. Since I had purchased one to go running with, I decided to turn this new one into a watch. When I reached out on Twitter to see which ones people recommended, I was contacted by Loop and sent one to review.
A year and a half ago, I discovered the Yurbuds earbuds at the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend Run Expo. When I first purchased them, I quickly fell in love with them. They sounded good, felt comfortable, and stayed firmly in my ears. Unfortunately, the earphone design was less than stellar and I had to return them twice because the sound went out. The second time, I received their new design.
In order to get an automatic entry into the coveted New York Marathon, a runner can complete 9 races and volunteer for one, to complete what is called the 9+1. This guarantees a place in the following year’s marathon. For the NYC Half Marathon, there is a similar program, where a runner can run four out of five of the borough races and gain entry. This past weekend, the Queens 10K was one of these races.
