Arduino and LEGO Projects – My Book Is Finally Available!
For the better part of the last year, I have been building, wiring, coding and writing projects for my first book. After all the months put in to the creation of the book, I am proud to say that my first book, Arduino and LEGO Projects is now available from Apress Books!
Recap: The New York Giants Run Of Champions 5K
For the second year in a row, runners raced around the Meadowlands complex in honor of the Giants in The New York Giants Run of Champions 5K. Unlike last year, which revolved around the Giants winning the Super Bowl, this was a race that merely honored the team and allowed runners the feeling of running down the field towards the goal line to finish the race and know the feeling of running in a touchdown.
Review: The Unofficial LEGO Builder’s Guide, 2nd Edition
Years ago I purchased a copy of The Unofficial LEGO User’s Guide by Allan Bedford. I was a big fan of that book when it came out because I was able to learn quite a few building techniques from it and found it to be an indispensable resource when I was trying to teach myself things like how to build a sphere when building The Green Lantern Power Battery. No Starch Press has now come out with a second edition of the book.
Review: Snuggbuds Pump’d
I have previously reviewed the Snuggbuds SP-X and found them to be quite good to listen to and to run with. When talking to the fine folks at Snuggbuds at the run expo for the NYC Half Marathon, they gave me a pair of their Pump’d earbuds to see the latest revision of their headphones and see how they have improved over their predecessors.
Road to the 2014 NY Marathon: Wall Street Run
Every year, the New York Road Runners have very few evening runs. Most of the races are on Saturday and Sunday mornings, predominantly in Central Park. One of the rare, annual exceptions is the American Heart Association Wall Street Run, which runs the streets of the lower tip of the island of Manhattan.
Road To the 2014 NY Marathon: Brooklyn Half Marathon
It was still dark as I woke to make my way to Brooklyn for the morning’s race. The early start time and the distance between my home meant having to awaken far too early to drive down there, park by Coney Island and take a subway up to where the race began. For the third year in a row, I forced myself to undergo this ritual in order to run the Brooklyn Half Marathon.
Review: Aftershokz Sportz M2
Last year, I checked out the Aftershokz sport headphones. Rather than conventional headphones, which go in or over the ears, the Aftershokz used bone conduction technology to create vibrations that transmit through the cheekbones to be heard. Aftershokz has upgraded the design and released the Aftershokz Sportz M2.
The LEGO Micro TARDIS
At SXSW this year, I spent time at the Apress Books booth to promote a book I’ve written but has not yet been released. Since the projects in the book would take too long to build, I brought my LEGO TARDIS to display, but I wanted a new creation that I could build at the table, as well as building some of my video game characters. So for SXSW, I designed the LEGO micro TARDIS.
Chevrolet Introduces the 2014 Camaro Z/28
I was invited by Chevrolet to visit the New York International Auto Show again this year to see their latest offerings. While many of their cars that are or will be available this year, their press conference focused on five vehicles. The 2014 Corvette Stingray, the 2014 Corvette Stingray Convertible, the 2014 SS sedan, the 2014 Camaro SS, and the Camaro Z/28.
Road to the 2014 NYC Marathon: NYC Half Marathon
Every year in New York City, the marathon is a major event that runs 26.2 miles through all five boroughs. The second biggest race for the New York Road Runners is the NYC Half Marathon, a 13.1 race around Manhattan that 14,500 runners had to run four out of five of the previous year’s five borough races or enter via lottery. In 2012, I ran four of the races (Brooklyn, Bronx, Staten Island, and Queens) in order to run this year.
