Bionicle Returns at NYCC
For kids who grew up in the 2000’s a staple toy was LEGO’s Bionicle line of buildable and posable large figurines. From 2001 – 2009, the Technic based figures were fairly ubiquitous among boys’ toys, until the line was shut down due to dwindling interest. The fans of Bionicle have remained vocal for the past 5 years, and now LEGO has brought back the theme to the joy of its continuing fans.
The Berlin Marathon
The Berlin Marathon is not only one of the six biggest marathons in the world, aka the World Marathon Majors, it is referred to as the fastest, flattest marathon course in the world. The most world records have been set on that course than any other, which meant I needed to attempt to run it myself for my sixth marathon.

In the Old West, a couple are bitten by an undead assailant, leading a town to be overrun by zombies. As the residents attempt to battle back, the only survivors are a preacher and a law man, who are forced to traverse the wilderness as they attempt to battle their demons and find safety.
Review: Boredom
People like to cite the cliche that only boring people get bored, but at some point or another, we all get bored. No one is really sure what causes boredom or what we can do about it, but Albert Nerenberg underwent an exploration of boredom and its scientific (and sometimes not so scientific) causes in the documentary Boredom.
The LEGO Super Friends Project
When the LEGO Friends line was introduced, it was met with mixed reviews. Many little girls loved it and LEGO builders liked the colors that were introduced with the line, but it was often derided for its more doll-like minifigures and its conformation to female stereotypes. It was such discussions, and the desire to utilize the same figures in order to the break the stereotypes that they had been assigned, that led me to start the LEGO Super Friends Project.
New York Giants Run of Champions 5K 2014
For the third consecutive year, a 5k race wound its way around Metlife Stadium in New Jersey for runners and New York Giants fans to converge on the field to complete a 3.1 mile trek. A feeling like your favorite football player as he runs those 100 yards to completion at the end zone is what draws them each year.
Breather
Office space is at a premium in cities like New York City, where it seems like new coworking spaces are popping up daily to fill the office needs of startups, but sometimes a desk isn’t needed for that long. Bringing it down to a more hourly level to host a meeting, find a private office, or just a quiet place to be alone is Breather.

Recap: Achilles Hope & Possibility 5M 2014
The Achilles organization makes it possible for injured and handicapped runners to race every year. They can be seen along the New York Marathon, as well as other races, and make it possible for those who normally cannot race to have a guide run with them to help them along the course. Each year, the New York Road Runners have a five mile race dedicated to this organization and the impaired runners it assists.
Review: The Art Of LEGO Design
As LEGO has advanced, so has the artistry in the building techniques of its fans. As The LEGO Group has introduced smaller and more versatile parts to work with, LEGO builders have established new and more interesting techniques for building with these new parts. Unfortunately for newer builders, it can be daunting to figure out these techniques, but The Art of LEGO Design by Jordan Schwartz is here to show builders how to make the most out of their LEGO parts.
