Review: Yurbuds Signature Series ITE 100

Twice before I have reviewed the Yurbuds Ironman headphones. After both times, I found them to be my favorite earbuds for running. I found both times they sounded excellent and never slipped due to the soft rubber earbud coverings, but now I was sent the Yurbuds Signature Series ITE 100 earbuds to check out.

Review: Beautiful LEGO

The creations that LEGO artists make can be very diverse and original. Each builder has his or her own way of assembling the bricks to make unique creations, which are diverse as the builders themselves. Mike Doyle examined many of the different LEGO sculptures out there and compiled what he deemed the most artistic in the book Beautiful LEGO.

New York Comic Con 2013 – Through Other Eyes

The weekend of the New York Comic Con this year coincided with the same weekend as the Chicago Marathon. While did show up on Thursday to loan some of my LEGO creations to Google+ Local to display at NYCC, I was unable to truly give the convention the time that it requires to really go through it. As such, I asked two friends to go to the convention and cover it for JustJon.Net.

Review: The Dean Martin Celebrity Roasts

There is a long standing tradition in comedy where a comedian is honored by “roasting” them. Other comedians would take turns telling jokes about the honored guest and generally performing a tribute to them. From 1974 to 1984, famed comedian and singer Dean Martin hosted a television program on NBC where each week a different […]

Review: The Captains Close Up

In 2011, William Shatner interviewed the captains of all the different Star Trek franchises in a feature length film aptly named The Captains. The focus of the documentary was the trials and ordeals of becoming and being a United Federation of Planets captain. Shatner has now gone back to interview the captains in a more in depth way in The Captains Close Up.

Review: Zombie Massacre

There’s a special kind of movie that comes from filmmaker Uwe Boll. Fairly considered the dregs of the cinematic world, Boll has even challenged critics to boxing matches to defend his films. While those are generally the films that he directs, Zombie Massacre answers the question of what kind of film Uwe Boll would produce and “present.”

Review: The LEGO Adventure Book

There are many unofficial LEGO books out there on how to build different techniques and projects (including my own), but when I received The LEGO Adventure Book by Megan Rothrock from No Starch Press, I was pleasantly surprised to find an advanced book for younger readers, as opposed to the simplified books put out by LEGO itself.

Review: The BrickGun Book

Last year, I reviewed LEGO Heavy Weapons from NoStarch Press. A year later, they have followed up their book of realistic looking machine guns with smaller fare with The BrickGun Book, a book teaching how to build realistic looking handguns from LEGO bricks. The author of The BrickGun Book, Jeff Boen, was an IT professional […]

Review: The Unofficial LEGO Builder’s Guide, 2nd Edition

Years ago I purchased a copy of The Unofficial LEGO User’s Guide by Allan Bedford. I was a big fan of that book when it came out because I was able to learn quite a few building techniques from it and found it to be an indispensable resource when I was trying to teach myself things like how to build a sphere when building The Green Lantern Power Battery. No Starch Press has now come out with a second edition of the book.

Review: Snuggbuds Pump’d

I have previously reviewed the Snuggbuds SP-X and found them to be quite good to listen to and to run with. When talking to the fine folks at Snuggbuds at the run expo for the NYC Half Marathon, they gave me a pair of their Pump’d earbuds to see the latest revision of their headphones and see how they have improved over their predecessors.
