I previously went over the major Twitter clients for the Droid, Droid X and Droid 2. Of course there are other major social media outlets available, so it only makes sense that it should be accessible. The following are some of the major social media apps.
All of the social media apps below are free (even though some may have paid versions), install different ones and see which one suits your needs. I have limited this list only to official apps from the social networks and not ones built by third parties. All of the apps below can be reached on androlib and can be easily installed by using Barcode Scanner to scan the QR code on the page.
- Facebook – Stay connected with all your Facebook friends with this app, which is a shadow of the iPhone version.
- Foursquare – Check in and keep up with where your friends are at with this location based social network.
- Google Buzz – Share updates and pictures on this Google owned social network with this app and widget.
- Gowalla – The other major location based check in app is also available for your Android based mobile device.
- Last.fm – Listen to your music and share with friends on this music social network.
- Myspace – If you are one of the people still on the Myspace website, this app will let you connect with your friends who are still on there.
- Orkut – Even this Google owned social network, popular in South America, has its own app for Android.
- Pegshot – Take pictures and videos and share them with friends based on your location in this mobile based social network.
While more social networks are coming to the Droid, Droid X and Droid 2 in the near future, these cover most of the popular social networks that are available, developed by the social networks themselves. Are there any that you use that I missed? Let me know below and I’ll add them.
