I have been running consistently for the past 19 months. From February 2010 to the present, I have gone out in sun, rain and snow in order to train and become a better runner. I have run 5ks and half marathons, working hard to achieve greater distances and better times each time I went out. Having completed half marathons, the next step would be a full marathon, and as of today, I am running in the ING New York City Marathon in November, the largest marathon in the world.
My friend Carolann posted this week that the American Cancer Society had a few openings in their marathon team, and I contacted her about it. She put me in touch with the coach for the Determination team and after a few emails, and a few website registrations, I was on the team.
The American Cancer Society is an important charity to me. Not only did I spend time volunteering for the ACS back in high school, but I lost my grandfather and aunt to cancer as well. That’s why I look forward to raising money to help the American Cancer Society. I will be doing something good to help people while achieving a personal goal of running in the NYC Marathon.
I look forward to running the streets of NYC in order to support and raise money for the ACS. I hope you’ll help support me when I run on November 6, and please help me support the ACS with a donation at this link to help support me in this endeavor.
