I Am Running the Disneyland Half Marathon

Last January, I traversed the roads of Disney World in Orlando, Florida to run 13.1 miles and journey through the Magic Kingdom and EPCOT in order to prove to myself I could. I have tried to do races I found interesting in my brief running career, and this weekend, that continues in Disneyland.

Nike+ Sportwatch GPS

As I continue running and training for races, I wanted to start having better accuracy than the Nike+ I had been using to train over the previous year. Since the sportwatch was adding extra distance to my runs and I didn’t want to run with my phone, so a GPS watch was my best bet. Having already tracked my training with the Nike Plus for the past year, I decided to try the Nike+ Sportwatch GPS.

Road to the NY Marathon: UJA Run for Israel

The ING New York City Marathon is arguably the biggest marathon in the world. Thousands of runners apply to run 26.2 miles through the streets of New York City in this annual event. There are multiple ways to enter the marathon, but the most preferred method is referred to as the 9+1.

Yurbuds

When I visited the Run Expo as part of the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend, one of the companies exhibiting at the expo was Yurbuds, headphones that are supposed to stay locked in while running. Months later, as my over the ear Nike Vapor headphones became worn just before the Brooklyn Half Marathon, I felt it was time to finally try a pair of Yurbuds.

The Brooklyn Half Marathon

This past Saturday, I ran the Brooklyn Half Marathon. This is the first long race I’ve run since The Walt Disney World Half Marathon and has significance beyond just being a long race.

2011 April Detox and Bronx Zoo Run for the Wild Results

For the second year, I decided to take the month of April to reset and realign myself mentally and physically. Exercising, working and just generally getting myself out of the unhealthy habits that I normally have. Add to it the Bronx Zoo Run for the Wild 5K, and there is the potential to get healthy again.

Return to the Bronx Zoo Run For the Wild

One year ago, I was challenged by friends to run my first race over brunch. After 13 weeks of Couch to 5K training, I ran my hardest and successfully traversed the three miles around the Bronx Zoo in the Run For the Wild to raise money for Tigers. Tomorrow, I return to the zoo to run those three miles again.

Running in a Foreign City

When attending SXSW last month, I participated in an event imaginatively entitled Run SXSW. Attendees of the run made their way around Lake Austin in the park near the Austin Convention Center. There are quite a few things to remember when running in a city that isn’t your own, some of which I didn’t heed.

Return of the April Detox

With SXSW behind me and the Bronx Zoo 5K ahead of me again, I felt it was time to realign myself. The need to get myself back on track to where I was months ago inspired me to return to the idea I had a year ago, when I did my April Detox. So for the second year in a row, I will focus on my health.

Walt Disney World Half Marathon Aftermath

I’ve previously written about running the Walt Disney World Half Marathon, but focused mainly on the run itself and my experiences with it rather than its effect on me and its repercussions for me. I wanted to focus on those other aspects that weren’t part of my previous ruminations.
